Weekly Update – 1st – 18th July

Meta

Meta has been mistakenly tagging some photos as “made with AI”. So far it seems like any edits made to the image are what have prompted Meta’s algorithm to flag them in this way. Stay tuned for more updates.

Meta have announced that they have made broadcast channels available globally for eligible pages with more than 10,000 followers. Read the full update from Meta here.

Meta adds a new attribution model to allow advertisers to distinguish between all conversions and first time conversions. You can find the new feature in Ads Manager under “Attribution Settings”.

Instagram is now allowing users to add up to 20 audio tracks to reels. Users will be able to overlap or merge tracks to fit each video clip.

Google

Google has added 110 new languages to Google Translate, with the help of AI. The update comes as part of Google’s 1000 languages initiative – aiming to add the 1000 most common spoken languages to Google Translate.

Google has announced an update to the “advertising” section in GA4 – with aligned advertising audience sizes in GA4 and Google Ads and a new “Advertising segments” panel. The changes will allow advertisers to make more accurate data-driven ad strategies and investment decisions.

Google launches EC Assist – a new Chrome extension that helps advertisers troubleshoot and optimise their Enhanced Conversion settings. Download the extension in the Chrome Store.

Google Ads is now defaulting to Broad Match for keywords on new search campaigns. You can turn this off during campaign set up but make sure to pay attention, as forgetting it could be costly!

Google adds tCPA insight box for Demand Gen campaigns. Advertisers can use the feature to determine if Actual CPA is within the range, view weekly CPA averages and to calculate typical variation based on historical campaign data. 

Google Search Console now allows advertisers to add their Shipping and Returns information to the platform. You can do this via Settings then Shopping and then under Shipping and returns. You can specify the delivery time, shipping cost, return window and return cost.

Amazon

Amazon launches expanded Brand, Keyword and Product Targeting for advertisers on the platform, in a bid to decrease irrelevant traffic.

YouTube

YouTube adds more features to Shorts, including: Auto Layout, Text-to-Speech, Stickers, Minecraft Effects, stylized captions and remixing tools.
