X introduces Trend Genius, a new feature which will allow advertisers on the platform to serve ads based on real time communication trends.
Meta
Meta is rolling out a new feature which will enable advertisers to showcase custom call to action buttons. The feature will support up to 20 offers per ad, with Meta predicting the one most likely to convert.
Meta has expanded Meta AI – the feature is now available in 7 languages across 22 countries. The new updates also include “imagine me” prompts, new editing capabilities and improved AI reasoning capabilities.
TikTok
TikTok has added an option for users to upload a Thumbnail to their videos. Users can either select a specific frame from the video, or upload a custom Thumbnail image.
Google announces that it will no longer be deprecating third party cookies, and instead will be focussing on the future of Privacy Sandbox APIs to achieve the same results, through a new Chrome user experience. The news comes after Google releases the results of a Display Ads experiment which ran from January to March 2024. Discussions with regulators are ongoing, so stay tuned for further updates.
Google URL Shortener links will no longer be available. From 25th August 2024, Google will be turning off the feature and any links built with the Google URL Shortener in the form https://goo.gl/* will be impacted, and will no longer return a response.
YouTube
YouTube will now allow users to save music from their Short’s feed and save it in a “Chosen Sounds” folder. Users will then be able to use the audio elsewhere on the platform.
Pinterest is working on their own AI text to image generation project called Pinterest Canvas. The aim is to provide generated options for product backgrounds, without altering the product shot itself, giving advertisers the option to choose the background aesthetic for individual products.
Microsoft
Microsoft has launched a new app called Designer. The app, designed to compete with Canva, allows users to generate AI images and designs through text based prompts.
