Marketers are investing big in influencer marketing. It’s a creator’s market out there and according to SproutSocial, it isn’t slowing down any time soon. Seventy-four percent of marketers plan to spend at least a quarter of their social media budgets on content creator partnerships over the next 3-6 months, according to a new report.

TikTok

A recent study shows Gen Z is increasingly using TikTok as a search engine; businesses shift marketing strategies to engage younger users on the platform. Research shows that 40% of consumers now use TikTok to search for things they need or are interested in learning about. Read more here.

Google

Google is allowing some websites to continue using 3rd party cookies until the end of this year. The phase out is scheduled for Autumn this year but some businesses will be able to request additional time. Read more on Search Engine Land

Google’s chief executive has told employees to expect more job cuts this year after a recent round of layoffs that affected 1,000 staff. In a memo to staff on Wednesday, Sundar Pichai said that “some roles may be impacted” as he said divisions within the tech company continued to make changes. Read the full story here

Google will be shutting down websites made through Google Business Profile in March this year. Any company who wants to remain online, will need to make their website on an alternative platform. Read more here.
