Meta

Meta introduces a new AI chat feature to help businesses with customer support on Messenger, as well as new business messaging tools to launch PR messages and Threads API to share new content at scale. 

Instagram adds Live Stream for Close Friends. The new feature will allow users to stream directly to a group of up to 3 people in a private video session.

TikTok

TikTok launches “Symphony Avatars” – a new creative AI tool which will allow businesses to create their own virtual characters. The avatars will be available in 2 options: Stock or Custom, and will allow businesses to sell their products on the platform via a virtual influencer.

Google

Reminder 1: From 1st July Universal Analytics will no longer be available and all data will be deleted. Start downloading any data you might need now.

Reminder 2: Google Ads will be upgrading to the new Google Ads interface on 30th August. The change will affect all markets and the old interface will no longer be available. 

Google adds a new performance report to Search Console. Ecommerce businesses will now be able to see merchant listings performance in the Google Search Image tab.

Google Ads announces updates to Query Matching. The new updates include: aggregating misspelt search queries with their correctly spelled counterparts in search term reports, automatically blocking misspellings of words added as negative keywords, a “brand inclusions” feature for broad match campaigns which will allow advertisers to limit their ads to queries related to specified brand names and brand exclusions, which will now apply to all match types and Dynamic Search Ads instead of only Performance Max campaigns.

Google Ads is phasing out card payments. Google announces that high spending advertisers will be contacted to move to monthly invoicing or direct debit payments by 31st July or face account suspension. There are no details yet on which type of advertisers will be contacted or what classifies a “high spending” advertiser.

Google Ads announces “Cross-Media Reach”, a new feature available within the platform’s reporting tools. The new tool will allow advertisers to see the reach efficiency of Video Reach and Video View Campaigns on YouTube compared to TV, and across both channels to give a full view of their brand campaigns.

YouTube

YouTube announces that users will now be able to test up to three different thumbnails on their videos. The new tool called “Thumbnail Test and Compare” has been available to select users since the beginning of this month and will now be available to all users.

The Olympics is just around the corner, so if you are planning on releasing any Olympics related products, ads or social media content, now is the time to start finalising them. The Olympics Opening Ceremony will take place on 26th July.
